Years ago, after life and health changes, I embarked on months of deep personal work to decide if should fully pursue my artistic nature. As I reclaimed the artist child within me, I realized I also wanted to have a child. So began my journey of developing as an artist and a mother. I didn’t know how, at times, those two experiences would be at such odds, or ultimately how each would so fully inform the other. Grounded in photography, my practice has expanded to painting in oils, acrylics, and water media. Photography allows me to capture information from the world and painting allows me to distill the essence. My expression through each outlet is a process of coping: with feeling at odds with this modern world, being a woman and a mother, the challenges I face with this body of mine, the process of making art itself.
